Aadhaar eSign using the signer’s face

Since its introduction in 2015, Aadhaar eSign has fast grown into the most popular mode of electronic signing in India. However, the traditional modes of Aadhaar eSign have some limitations:

  • Aadhaar OTP eSign fails for signers who don’t have a mobile number 📱 or email 📧 linked to Aadhaar
  • Biometric and Iris authentication solves some of these issues but requires additional devices that add cost 💰 and complexity to the process
  • There is a cloud ☁️ around the security of biometrics now - which has led to many Banks advising customers to lock biometrics 🔒
  • Sometimes biometrics are undetectable 🤷‍♂️

That’s why Leegality has built support for the newest mode of Aadhaar eSign - Face Sign 😊.

With Aadhaar Face eSign - signers just need to show their face 🤳 before a camera to perform an eSign. This is similar to the DigiYatra flow in airports ✈️ - except this is for signing documents 📄.

We explain the entire process in the step-by-step layout below.

Note: Leegality is an authorized Application Service Provider under the CCA framework - and is authorized to offer Aadhaar Face eSign

If the face of the signer matches the photo in the UIDAI portal of the Aadhaar holder - the document is signed. If the faces don't match, eSign gets blocked.
